UP-164GS-M2 is a high-performance Layer 2 (L2) managed Ethernet switch with 16 Gigabit RJ-45 ports and 4 Gigabit SFP ports. The switch provides higher bandwidth links for the related equipment and implements core network technologies including traffic control, network monitoring, traffic prioritization, access control, and secure features. UP-164GS-M2 supports port-based VLANs and protocol-based VLANs allowing for network segmentation and data manipulation, respectively. The switch works with the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP / MSTP), which improves the fault tolerance and helps to ensure stable network operation. Additionally, the UP-164GS-M2 switches support the Access Control Lists (ACL) that account for the time and the day of week. PoE features are supported for IEEE 802.3at-compliant class 4 powered devices (PD), UP-164GS-M2 switches automatically detect each PD’s power consumption and deliver up to 30 watts over Cat 5,6 cables with 25.5 watts available to devices. The switch tracks its power budget (PoE budget) of 240W and grants power only when it is available. PoE is a technology that delivers both data connection and electric power to devices over a single Ethernet cable. This allows the use UP-164GS-M2 for a broad range of devices and applications such as Wi-Fi access points, IP cameras, IP phones, etc. It also provides an opportunity of setting up network equipment without having to connect to AC power.
